Best moments from Batti Gul Meter Chalu (BGMC)

Director Shree Narayan Singh’s Batti Gul Meter Chalu (BGMC) is set in the backdrop of Tehri where the city is suffering from a pertinent issue of inflated electricity bills by a private power corporation. The story revolves around three friends SK (Shahid Kapoor), Nauti (Shraddha Kapoor), and Tripathi (Divyendu Sharma), the trio shared a strong bond of friendship. Things went worsen when Tripathi runs into trouble with an inflated electricity bill of 54 lakhs. From this point, SK, who indulges in malpractices, decides to take stand for his friend and launches an all-out attack on the corrupt privatized electricity company. The movie gives a strong message and is backed by some top-notch performances by the star cast. But while it tackles a massive issue, the beauty of its narrative actually lies in the little moments that are spread across the film. Here are some of my favorite moments from the movie.

Best moments from Batti Gul Meter Chalu

This scene from the movie sees SK participate in an archery contest which takes places in darkness due to a power outrage. While it is interesting to see how SK fares in the contest, this scene particularly stands out in showing how strong the bond is between SK, Nauti & Tripathi.

One of the funniest scenes in the movie, this moment too is a result of a power outrage. In this scene, an unexpected power cut-off results in Nauti reaching an event with half straight and half curly hair and the fun that follows. Love the magic of local Garhwali lingo in this scene, particularly.

This scene had really made me feel angry with the kind of intensity and realism it packed. When Tripathi runs into trouble with exorbitant electricity bills, it is Nauti who stands by him. I love how this scene shaped up and basically set up the central conflict of the film.

This highly emotional scene see SK looking completely broken after Tripathi’s suicide and blames himself for discouraging to help him. Shahid Kapoor mesmerize us by the top-notch performance making the character alive with the powerful realistic acting.

This scene had me particularly pumped up with enthusiasm. In this scene, we see the transformation in SK who quits his malpractices and pledge to raise his voice against the criminal conduct by the power corporation and becomes an honest lawyer with a mission. Considering how SK’s character was shaping up as a money-minded lawyer, this scene really works in showing how he first steps up for the right cause.

In this scene, Nauti says to SK -“Jeetne se zyda ladna zaruri tehra”. This is my favorite dialogue from the film and makes a total scene in our real lives too.  No matter how tough the fight for good is, fighting for it in the first place makes all the difference.

I really like this scene where the whole city comes together and stand with SK, this reminds me that strength is in unity and nothing stop us from succeeding if we are together. I wish the same happens in the real world too as there are many social causes that deserve some much-needed attention.

So, that was the list of my Best moments from Batti Gul Meter Chalu movie. If you liked these moments, I would highly recommend you check out Batti Gul Meter Chalu at ZEE5. Let me know in the comments – which were your favorite moments from the movie.
